Stefan looked at the Vampire with mild interest. He didn't know whether or not Vampires could digest normal food, but what Gabriel had ordered was more than most humans would eat. He was thinking, trying to remember if he had everything of what his guest wanted when Gabriel put coin before him.
He stared at the glimmering coin before him, then looked back at the Vampire. The Angel took the coin, and thrust it back at Gabriel.
"Your money is no good here, Mr. Gabriel. Rosiel already said that you, Lady Josephine, and Lady Mystial are our guests for no price. The inn was started to provide a service for travelers. We take money when we need it. We do not need it right now... Except, I might not be able to fullfill your entire request. I'm not sure if I have everything. I'm going to go check and -"
The Angel fell silent at hearing someone outside. He could hear the loud crunching of the snow under someone's feet. Was it Rosiel returning their guests, like he was assuming? Stefen listened more closely; he held up his hand to motion Gabriel to not make a sound while slowly moving closer to the door.
He could hear things more clearly now. There were four of them; it still could be Rosiel, followed by Faye, Mystical, and Keovari, assuming he had been able to find all 3 of them. But something was wrong. The footfalls were heavy and awkward. These creatures were carrying a lot of weight. Rosiel hadn't taken anything heavy with him, and he didn't imagine Faye and Keo would carrying anything with them.
It wasn't them. Nor were these merchants; Stefan couldn't hear the footfalls of an animal to carry their burden. Weapons.
They were armed.
